Meet your own personal AI Agent, for everythingā€¦Proxy

Imagine if you had a digital clone to do your tasks for you. Well, meet Proxyā€¦

Last week, Convergence, the London based AI start-up revealed Proxy to the world, the first general AI Agent.

Users are asking things like ā€œBook my trip to Paris and find a restaurant suitable for an interviewā€ or ā€œOrder a grocery delivery for me with a custom weekly meal planā€.

You can train it how you choose, so all Proxyā€™s are different, and personalised to how you teach it. The more you teach it, the more it learns about your personal work flows and begins to automate them.

TOP STORY
šŸ¤ Musk + Trump = besties

I didnā€™t think it was possible, but I think weā€™ve finally found someone who loves Donald Trump as much as he loves himself. Elon Musk.

Over the past few months, Musk has poured $130 million into backing Trump through rallies, mobilizing supporters, and, of course, flooding X with pro-Trump content.

Clearly, Musk isn't afraid to pick favorites.

šŸ’¬ Musk even took control of America PAC, a type of political action committee that raises and spends money to support candidates, to boost Trumpā€™s voter outreach, using his money and platform to amplify Trumpā€™s campaign.

But, as usual, it isnā€™t just typical donations with him; heā€™s also pledged $1 million in cash prizes for randomly selected voters in key swing states who signed a petition supporting free speech and gun rights.

  • Which actually landed him in some hot water, as Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner labeled it a potential ā€œillegal lottery.ā€

  • Krasner even filed a lawsuit to block the giveaway, arguing it "violates consumer protection laws and lacks transparency in how winners are chosen.ā€

Thankfully for Musk, America, and the world, this will all come to an endā€”and then the fun will really begin.

Canā€™t wait! šŸ˜…

šŸ’¬ The issue is that offering financial incentives tied to voting can be interpreted as vote-buying, which is prohibited.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
šŸ¤– The Chinese military is using Metaā€™s AI

šŸ“ø Jason Lee/REUTERS

Uh, oh, that doesnā€™t sound good.

Top Chinese researchers have been using Metaā€™s Llama model to develop a military AI tool called ā€œChatBIT.ā€

šŸ’¬ The Llama model is an open-source AI developed by Meta, designed to understand and generate human-like text, similar to ChatGPT.

šŸ“ø Reuters

ChatBIT (not ChatGPT) is designed to gather intelligence, analyze data, and support military decision-making.

  • Think of it like a tactical Alexa whose job is to determine how to destroy your enemies.

  • And thanks to Meta, itā€™s now in the hands of the Chinese.

  • Metaā€™s response? Any use of Llama by the Chinese is unauthorized and against its acceptable use policy.

Big whoop.

But thereā€™s not much they can do about it; by design, the open-source nature of Llama models means Meta has little control over unauthorized uses.

Thanks, Zuck.

šŸ“ˆ Meta Platforms ($META) stock is up 63.78% this year.

POLITICS
šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Brands are giving away free stuff to voters

Finally, something about the election I can get excited about: free stuff!

A number of brands have decided to give away perks and prizes in hopes of attracting more voters to the polls this year.

Uberā€™s ā€œGo Voteā€ feature

Hereā€™s a list of just some participating brands:

  • Uber: 50% off trips to polling places (up to $10) through the "Go Vote!" feature.

  • Uber Eats: 25% off orders (up to $15) with a $25 minimum from 6 p.m. Nov. 5 to 7 a.m. Nov. 6.

  • Lyft: 50% off rides to the polls (up to $10) with the code VOTE24.

  • Hertz: One free rental day when renting for two or more days from Oct. 21 to Nov. 5.

  • Krispy Kreme: Free original glazed doughnut; no purchase necessary.

Why?

The main reason is that many states donā€™t offer paid time off for employees to vote, so brands want to make it worth peopleā€™s while, you know, for democracy and such.

Thatā€™s Krispy Kremeā€™s slogan, isnā€™t it? "Doughnuts for Democracy"

šŸ’¬ More than 2,000 companies are part of the ā€œTime to Voteā€ initiative, which agrees to ensure their employees are able to vote with their work schedules.
